 +To achieve the best scalability we would recommend the following architecture:

 +  * 2x master servers in HA mode

 +  * A slave cluster for each data centre (minimum of 2 servers)
 +===== Running Opsview on Virtualised Environments =====
 +Opsview can run in virtualised environments with VMware ESX, Microsoft V-Sphere, Xen or KVM. Please take note of the following considerations:
 +
 +  * Disk I/O operations are usually the main bottleneck:
 +    * It may be necessary to run Opsview's database server on a physical server (rather than virtualised)
 +    * Automatic snapshotting of guest VMs causes significant I/O overhead and we recommend that this is disabled
 +    * An external storage array should be considered for large scale systems (with many thousands of monitored hosts)
 +  * Latest versions of the hypervisor software should be used along with latest recommended drivers for storage and network operations
 +
 +===== Memory requirements =====
 +These are the memory requirements for each part of the Opsview system. These are rough figures for a general system. Systems with a 64bit kernel will require an extra 20% memory.
