Differences

This shows you the differences between two versions of the page.

opsview4.6:netflow_settings [2014/09/09 12:19] (current)
Line 1: Line 1:
 +====== NetFlow Settings ======
 +This page defines the retention period of NetFlow data.
 +
 +Any data older than the specified period will be removed from the system as part of Opsview's housekeeping.
 +
 +This page also provides a table to give an estimation of the amount of space required to store the data for the duration specified.
 +
 +
 +
 +===== Summary Retention Period =====
 +This defines the maximum age of data in the opsview_netflow_stats table in the Runtime database on the master server.
 +
 +===== Full Data Retention Period =====
 +This defines the maximum age of data in the /var/opt/opsview/netflow data directory for each collector.
 +
 +===== Estimated Data Usage =====
 +
 +==== Estimated Number Of Files ====
 +This value is an estimate of the number of files required to store for the retention period specified. As this can be very large, it is important that you setup your filesystem appropriately and you monitor the number of remaining inodes on each of your collector nodes to ensure you do not run out of space.
 +
 +==== Source Name ====
 +For each source, Opsview displays the data usage.
 +
 +Opsview will also summarise the total values for each collector. Note that the usage requirements are based on each node in the collector, if the collector is based on a monitoring cluster.
 +
 +==== Avg Data Per Day ====
 +This estimate is based on data over the last week. If there is less than a week's worth of data, the actual duration of data will be displayed in parenthesis, eg //(3 Hours)//, so that you have an idea of how representative the value will be.
 +
 +Please note that the estimations are based on assumption that the block size of the partition where netflow data is stored is equal to 4096 bytes.
 +
 +==== Estimated Storage Required ====
 +This displays the estimated amount of storage required to store NetFlow data for the retention periods specified. Note that this storage is required on each node, if the collector is based on a monitoring cluster.
