Line 1: Line 1:
+===== Conversion to BIGINT for two tables in Runtime =====
+Due to a problem where the auto_increment values reached their maximum, we convert two of the columns to BIGINT, instead of INT. The two tables affected are:
+  * nagios_servicechecks - this stores every result from event service check. Opsview retains the last 7 days worth of data in this table
+  * nagios_statehistory - used for Events View. This has a user configurable retention period
+To speed up the upgrade, the nagios_servicechecks table will only retain the last days worth of data before making the database change.
+You may want to consider removing some data within the nagios_statehistory table before the upgrade, to reduce the amount of time that the upgrade takes.
+You may want to check that [[opsview-core:mysql#mysql_tuning|mysql]] has been tuned because we have reports that this upgrade step takes a long time if not enough memory is allocated to Mysql.
