Changes

This page lists the major changes between releases

Opsview 4.1.2

Features

  • Added push notifications for IOS devices

Fixes

  • Fixed issue where interfaces inheriting default threshold values did not have the threshold set correctly, when using check_snmp_interfaces_cascade
  • 'Edit host configuration' context menu link has been fixed to use the CONFIGUREHOSTS access
  • Link to the auditlog on reload page no longer appears upon successful reload
  • Fixed issue with non-authenticated user requesting access limited user menus

Opsview 4.1.1

Enhancements

  • Dashboard performance improvements of over 20% for common operations on Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Our optimisations resulted in less benefit for Internet Explorer users, resulting in similar performance to the Opsview 4.1.0 release.

Fixes

  • Fixed a potential issue resulting in multiple 'opsview_master_slave_connection' processes on slave
  • Fixed dashboard database installation issue when upgrading from Opsview 3.X to Opsview 4.1
  • Fixed dashboard incorrect handling of timezone in performance graph dashlet
  • Fixed installation errors raised due to over aggressive permission changes for Nagvis files
  • Fixed Nagvis configuration issues because of Opsview banner
  • Fixed the check_apache_performance plugin, where metric returns 0 as value

Opsview 4.1.0

Notices

  • You will need to reload the dashboard application following an upgrade of Opsview
  • Opsview Web does not install new monitor packs on start - use install_all_opspacks command line utility
  • Renamed install_monitor_pack to install_opspack and create_monitor_pack to create_opspack
  • Upgrades to ODW and Runtime database schemas may take some time
  • In ODW, the seconds_unacknowledged calculation is different, so values from the upgrade onwards will not be compareable with historical values
  • Solaris upgrades require installation of CSWlibgif4 otherwise will get failures when starting Opsview Web
  • Internet Explorer users are advised to use versions 8 or 9 for the best Dashboard experience
  • Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) is no longer supported

Features

  • New dashboard capabilities:
    • Process map dashlet
    • Top issues dashlet
    • Top metrics dashlet
    • The ability for an administrator to share dashboards with other users
    • Auto switching between dashboards
    • Performance improvements
  • Improved VMWare monitoring
  • Ability to submit results for multiple services in a non-OK state

Enhancements

  • SSH tunnels to slaves now re-establish faster when switching masters in HA environments
  • Ability to configure forward and reverse SSH tunnels individually for each slave cluster
  • New REST API functionality for setting status: POST /status/service
  • Store downtimes and acknowledgements in statehistory table. Upgrades may take a few minutes for schema changes
  • REST API for events now contains additional acknowledgement and downtime information
  • Small improvement to ndo2db when querying for objects
  • ODW now holds seconds_unhandled and seconds_unhandled_hard calculations for every service every hour
  • import_runtime creates a staging table for calculation of the service_availability_hourly_summary table. This increases the amount of disk space required at import time with the tradeoff of a faster import. The amount of space required is about an hour's worth of event data
  • New REST API parameter when searching performance metrics: collapse_multiple_services, so multiple services are only returned once
  • REST API for performance data now returns summarised information on 95th percentile and standard deviation
  • Allow ndo.dat to be moved more easily
  • You can no longer edit a contact's username through the web UI, as this affects 3rd party systems (dashboard, reporting module, Nagvis)
  • Dashboard upgrades will include a backup of the dashboard database before upgrading the schema
  • NSCA password can now be configured separately in opsview.conf. New installs will generate a random password

Fixes

  • Fixed order of custom.css to allow overriding of CSS classes
  • A fresh install of opsview-perl on Debian/Ubuntu platforms now creates the nagios user's home directory correctly
  • Fixed Solaris opsview-base postinstall error 'die: not found'
  • Fixed time jump logic to take account of the threshold for both forward and reverse jumps
  • Fixed nightly backup attempt of lost+found in /usr/local/nagios
  • Fixed fresh debian install with Nagvis permissions for www-data
  • Changed logging of start_slaves in opsviewd to debug level
  • Fixed dashboard.user table so that names are now based on the Opsview user's name, rather than id
  • Dashboard database is now backed up as part of daily backups
  • Fixed audible alerts in events view
  • Fixed net-snmp-perl requirement on RedHat
  • Fixed drag/drop changing delete button in host groups, service groups and monitoring servers pages
